Prescription Medicines have reached an amount of $1000 billion with a rise of 7 percent worldwide according to some major pharmaceutical and medical information companies.
Statistics show that US has the highest selling pharmaceutical market and a positive Pharmaceutical Industry trend with more than $252 billion annual sale. The sale has increased around 5.7 percent annually. Many pharmaceutical companies are turning towards fast-growing emerging markets like those of China, Brazil and India because access to antiretroviral therapy has been improving in developing countries. Even though the seven major markets (France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, UK, US) are commercially the most significant, they in fact account for only three to six percent of the globally infected population to which these companies cater their drugs to.

The competition is becoming so that intense some big players in the pharmaceutical market may eventually be either squeezed, or opt out and that the optimism surrounding Isentress and Integrase (two newly discovered drugs to combat HIV) inhibitors have the potential to change first line regimens significantly over the next 10 years and really make a mark in this increasingly difficult market. Pharmaceutical executives say that reinvigorating Research & Development is the most important strategic initiative underway in their organizations and ranked expanding into new markets and becoming more customer-centric as primary areas of focus.
